DEAD BODIES OF BALI BOMBING I CONVICTS FLOWN TO THEIR RESPECTIVE HOME VILLAGES

Cilacap, Indonesia, Nov 9 (ANTARA) - The dead bodies of Indonesian muslim militants - Amrozi, Mukhlas and Imam Samudra - who were executed in early morning of Sunday in the Nirbaya hill area on Nusakambangan island, Cilacap, were already flown to their respective home villages.

Blood brothers - Mukhlas and Amrozi - were flown to Tenggulun, Lamongan district, East Java province, while the dead body of Imam Samudra will be sent to Serang, Banten province.

Based on Antara monitoring at Wijayapura port of Cilacap at about 06:25 local time on Sunday morning, three ambulance cars in a convoy under a tight police escort were heading to Tunggul Wulung airport of Cilacap.

The three Bali bombers convicted of masterminding the 2002 Bali Bombings were executed at 23.10 Jakarta-time, on early morning of Sunday.

Amrozi, Mukhlas and Imam Samudra, were reportedly rounded up from their cells at 23.00 and taken to a location known as the "Nirbaya" hills, located 6 kilometers from Batu Penitentiary on Nusakambangan island.

Nirbaya, a former prison during the Dutch colonial era, is now used as a place for executing death-row convicts.

Amrozi, Mukhlas and Imam Samudra were shot dead in the presence of three Central Java Regional Police shooting squads.

The procession begun at 23.10 with a sermon by a religious scholar, advising the convicts to accept their fate.

Officials of the Attorney General's Regional Office then read out an execution order, signalling the execution to proceed at 23.20.

The three Bali bombers were subsequently shot and confirmed dead by Central Java Police forensic officers at 00.15.
