Advani's web portal launched

New Delhi, Nov 8 (PTI) National Democratic Alliance
(N.D.A.'s) Prime Ministerial candidate L.K. Advani Saturday
went online to greet the netizens saying 'the nation is poised
for a change'.

The web portal, www.lkadvani.com, launched Saturday by
former Jammu and Kashmir governor S.K. Sinha, greets the
visitors with a call to "make the 21st century, India's
century".

The portal with features like interactive forums, videos,
photo albums, campaign trails and many other facilities is
claimed to be the biggest political website of the country by
the saffron party.

"I am sure that this initiative would bring good results
as it has brought good results for U.S. President-elect Barack
Obama," Sinha told reporters after the launch here at the
party headquarters.

Speaking on the occasion, party Chief Rajnath Singh said
that the initiative was a clear sign of the forward looking
instincts of Bhartiya Janta Party (B.J.P.).

"Initiative like this clearly makes our party a forward
looking and innovative party and Advaniji is rightly called
the pioneer of novelties in B.J.P. He has the ability to adopt
to newer systems," Singh said.

Hailing the team lead by party's I.T. cell chief Pradyut
Bora for the web portal, Advani said, "I feel that after the
invention of wheel and electricity, Internet is the greatest
gift to the humanity."

"An estimate suggests ten crore first time voters would
be added in these General Elections, I am sure that we would
be able to reach to that mass through the web," he added.

B.J.P. chose to launch the website on the occasion of
Advani's 81st birthday. And it is also significant because it
would be the first occasion when a prime ministerial candidate
would be going into election campaign with an interactive
portal.

"The site includes 150 videos, 300 photographs and more
than 700 pages with many interactive features. It would be
second such venture of the party after we had a successful
portal of Advaniji's autobiography My Country, My Life. The
site is witnessing more than a lakh hits each month," party's
I.T. cell chief Pradyut Bora told PTI.

The portal has a dedicated section for volunteer's
sign-in for Advani's campaign. One can register for emails and
S.M.S. alerts in the site and participate in more than 20
forums of discussion.

The portal attempts to market Advani as it dons a series
of pictures of L.K. Advani mostly of his Deputy Prime
Ministership era on the front page alongwith a quote- 'for
strong, prosperous and self-confident India'.

It also has a dedicated space for the vision of Advani's
governance and also has a link dedicated to separate Telangana
on its front page. It also invites netizens to contribute to
N.D.A.'s future model of governance in the leadership of
Advani.

The function was attended by party chief Rajnath Singh,
senior leaders Bhairo Singh Shekhawat, Murli Manohar Joshi,
Jaswant Singh, Venkiah Naidu and Chief Ministers of Rajasthan
and Uttarakhand, Vasundhara Raje and Bhuvan Singh Khanduri
respectively.

Janta Dal (United) (J.D.(U)) Chief Sharad Yadav was also
present on the occasion.
