STEADFAST MARINE BUILDS TWO FCS VESSELS FOR FOREIGN COMPANY
Pontianak, Indonesia, Nov 8 (ANTARA) - PT Steadfast Marine has fulfilled a contract to build two fast crew supplier (FCS) vessels series 1605 ordered by a foreign company for use in the gas and oil industry.
The company's president director, Eddy K Logam, said here on Saturday, valued at US$1.7 million, the vessels were the first alluminium ones produced by the company in addition to 14 other metal vessels.
Speaking after the launching of the vessels at the company's shipyard at Batu Layang, North Pontianak, on Friday, Logam said Steadfast Marine had also obtained an ISO 9001-2000 certificate.
He said the certificate proved that the company's product was recognized internationally.
Steadfast Marine was cooperating with Damen Shipyard Group from the Netherlands in shipbuilding technology.
Damen Shipyard had a branch in Surabaya, East Java, and was making vessesls for the Indonesian navy.
The company that claims controlling around five percent of the glabal market had taken the benefit of the Indonesian and Dutch government cooperation to build vessles using foreign loans.
Steadfast Marine was set up in 2005 with an initial investment of Rp40 to Rp50 billion. It now needs an additional investment of Rp40 to Rp50 billion to increase its production capacity three-fold.
The company can only produce around four vessels in six to 16 months. With the additional investment it was expected to be able it produce eight vessels of 800 to 1,000 DWT and five or six other smaller vessels.
