Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics Launches Economic Survey 2013

Doha, July 02 (QNA) -The Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics has embarked on the implementation of a set of annual economic surveys, 2013. These surveys cover all large establishments and a sample of small establishments of various economic sectors (public - mixed private, whether domestic or foreign). The key objective of these surveys is to provide actual data for the year 2012 on employment in terms of nationality, gender, occupations and wages in addition to the value of production and intermediate inputs of goods and services, assets and thus estimates of value added generated by all economic activities practiced in the national economy. In its broad classifications these activities comprise mining, manufacturing, electricity and water, construction, trade, hotels and restaurants, transport and communications, banks and insurance and business services, social and personal services, the Ministry said in a statement today. The targeted information mentioned above will help the Economic Statistics and National Accounts Department in the preparation of 2012 final estimates of the gross domestic product (GDP). This information is considered the source for the compilation of the national accounts system as well as the basic set of economic indicators for all economic activities practiced in Qatar. Nearly 200 field researchers will participate in field work related to data collection. The Ministry of Development Planning & Statistics has conducted a training sessions for the field team in order to develop their knowledge of the various elements of field work as well as how to deal with the technical aspects of the relevant questionnaires .(QNA)
