Investment opportunities confab opens in Tehran

The 2nd International Conference on Investment Opportunities in Iran's tourism industry started here on Saturday.

The two-day conference is attended by Head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) Esfandiar Rahim-Mashaei.

Some 500 investors from 57 world countries including US, UK, Germany, France, India, Italy, Japan, Bulgaria, UAE, Kuwait, Indonesia and South Korea as well as 20 high-ranking delegations along with senior officials from World Tourism Organization (WTO) are taking part in the event.

Meanwhile, deputy head of ICHHTO, Hamid Baqaei, told IRNA that holding such conferences is an indication to the government's strong will to promote investment in Iran.

The government is also determined to promote tourism industry through support for the private sector, he added.

Special meetings, with participation of foreign and domestic investors, will be held on the sidelines of the conference to review avenues to develop tourism industry, Baqaei noted.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is scheduled to deliver a speech at the event.

Majlis speaker Ali Larijani and several ministers are also attending the tourism conference./end
