30 schoolgirls injured in auto accident
POHANG, South Korea, Nov. 8 (Yonhap) -- Thirty high school students were wounded as their bus veered off a road in this southern city, police said Saturday.
The bus was carrying 30 students and four teachers from a local women's high
school when it fell into a rice paddy alongside the road in Pohang, about 370km
southeast of Seoul, and rolled over, police said. The students were heading to
the ancient city of Andong for an excursion.
"Most of them suffered minor injuries as they were wearing seat belts," a police
investigator said.
The injured were sent to local hospitals. The driver of the bus was seriously
hurt, police said.
Police said the bus skidded off the road while trying to pass ahead a car and hit
a guardrail. It had been drizzling rain and the road was slick, they said.
