Yemen, UNCTAD, WIPO, ICRC in talks
GENEVA, Nov. 07 (Saba) - Assistant Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled
Abdul Rahman al Akwa'a held talks on Thursday with the Secretary
General of United Nations Conference on Trade and Development
(UNCTAD) Supachai Panitchpakdi over cooperation issues between
Yemen and the UNCTAD.
During the meeting al Akwa'a expressed his appreciation for efforts
the UNCTAD makes and for its consultative assistance it provides
to Help Yemen join the World Trade Organization )WTO), in addition
to its technical support for the customs authority to keep up with
technological advancements when performing its activities.
The meeting stressed the importance of promoting cooperation
between Yemen and the UNCTAD to include various fields, particularly
assistance the UNCTAD provides for developing countries in areas
such as investment and tourism promotion, capacity building and
training as well as supporting regional cooperation and boosting
imports.
Al Akwa'a also met with Secretary General of the World Intellectual
Property Organization (WIPO) Francis Gurry and held talks with him
over cooperation aspects between Yemen and the WIPO.
Moreover, He also met president of the International Committee of
Red Cross (ICRC ) in Geneva Jakob Kellenberger and discussed with
him cooperation aspects between Yemen and ICRC and means of
strengthening this cooperation.
