Al Attiyah: Power Transfer Only Done by "Greats"

Doha, June 25 (QNA) - HE State Minister Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Attiyah hailed HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani's decision to hand over power to HH Shiekh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani as a step that "no one but the greats would do." In an interview with Qatar TV on Tuesday, Al Attiyah said HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani made the decision when he deemed the time is right, adding that HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has become qualified to run the country. He added that he was not surprised by the decision but rather by the timing. "A few years ago, I heard HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani saying he thinks the Heir Apparent is the man to continue the blessed march when the right time comes around." The Minister said HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will receive support and assistance and "we are confident, and the people of Qatar, I believe, are confident Sheikh Tamim will lead this march".
