Park to resume training ahead of world championships

SEOUL, Nov. 7 (Yonhap) -- Beijing swimming gold medalist Park Tae-hwan will resume his training this weekend to start preparing for next year's world championship in Rome, his coach said Friday.

Park, who won two medals at the Beijing Games, including the men's 400-meter
freestyle gold, has shown peak performance recently, winning five titles at a
national competition last month.
The 19-year-old will be summoned to the main Olympic center in Seoul along with
18 other swimmers on Sunday and embark on an extensive program aimed at improving
his rankings at the World Swimming Championships in Rome in July next year, his
coach Roh Min-sang said.
"We've got ample time before the championships, so we plan to focus on improving
endurance," Roh said, adding the coaching staff has devised a cutting-edge
training program in consultation with a local training expert.
