MAJOR QUAKE ROCKS MALUKU

Jakarta, Nov 7 (ANTARA) - A major earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale jolted southeastern part of Ambon, capital of Maluku province at 23.04 p.m West Indonesian standard time on Friday, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMG) said.

The BMG said further that the earthquake was located 6.13 degrees southern latitude and 129.24 degrees eastern longitude with its epicenter in a depth of 133 km, and about 308 km north west of Saumlaki, Maluku or 392 km southwest of Tual.

The BMG said the quake had no potential to trigger a tsunami.

There were no immediate reports on casualties.
