Women footballers head to Asian U-19 championship finals
Hanoi (VNA) - The Vietnamese women's football squad passed the qualifying round held in Malaysia to enter the final round of the Asian Women U-19 championship 2009, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced on Nov. 6.
With four victories against Singapore, Myanmar, the Philippines and Jordan
and one loss against the Republic of Korea (RoK), the Vietnamese women's
team gained 12 points, ranking second in group A after the RoK team which
secured 15 points.
Thailand and Australia of group B are full of hope to head to the
finals.
The qualifying round, taking place from Oct. 28 - Nov. 7, includes 11
teams competing in a table round robin. Two highest-scorers of each group
and the best third among the groups, which is expected to belong to the
Myanmar , will compete in the final round.
The final round will also include the incumbent champion, the Democratic
People's Republic of Korea , Japan and China.-Enditem
