UNITED INDONESIA CABINET REMAINS SOLID : MINISTER
Jakarta, Nov 7 (ANTARA) - Minister/State Secretary Hatta Rajasa said the United Indonesia Cabinet has remained solid and it was not true that acting Coordinating Minister for Economy concurrently Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati had threatened to resign from the cabinet.
"The cabinet is still solid and there has been no resignation threat from Sri Mulyani," Rajasa said after accompanying President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at a ceremony marking the conferment of the title of "national hero" and Mahaputera Adipradana medals on three long deceased national figures at the State Palace on Friday.
Rajasa said Finance Minister Sri Mulyani came to the State Palace on Wednesday evening to discuss Indonesia's position at the upcoming G-20 summit in Washington next week with the president.
"Well, the finance minister came to the palace on Wednesday morning because she was to leave for Washington, and the next morning we held a meeting to formulate the government's position at the G-20 summit. So it is very clear that there is no problem in the cabinet," Rajasa said.
Yudhoyono on Friday morning conferred the title of national hero and Mahaputera Adipradana medals on former former prime minister Dr Mohammad Natsir, former Independence Preparatory Committee member KH Abdul Halim and former Surabaya independence fighter Soetomo (popularly known as Bung Tomo).
At the ceremony, the president also presented a Mahaputera Utama medal to Petta Lolo La Sinran, a former freedom fighter in South Sulawesi, and Parama Dharma Budaya medals to playwright and film director Wahyu Sihombing and writer Marah Rusli.
The recipients of the state awards and medals were at the ceremony represented by their next of kin as they had all passed away.
