UNIDENTIFIED BODY FOUND IN WULAN RIVER, KUDUS
Kudus, C Java, Nov 7 (ANTARA) - The body of an unidentified man was found floating in the Wulan river at Pasuruhan Lor village in Kudus district, Central Java, on Friday.
Sukisno, a local resident, said he was walking along the river on Friday morning when he saw a strange object floating in the middle of the river.
When he took a closer look, it became clear to him it was a human body and therefore he asked his friend, Soleh, to help pull the body onto the river bank. Thereafter, they reported their find to the police.
A spokesman of the Kudus Police's criminal investigation unit, Inspector Sukadi, said the identity of the body was not clear but it could the person concerned was murdered.
On Thursday morning, the body of an unidentified boy was also found afloat in a riverside pond at Lolu Selatan village in Palu, Central Sulawesi.
Local police so far have yet to establish the body's identity. Hundreds of local residents had already seen the body but none of them was able to say who it was.
"It does not seem to be someone who lived in our area," a Lolu Selatan resident said at the scene.
Police then evacuated the body to Bhayangkara Hospital for an autopsy, while waiting for somebody to claim it.
In a tentative examination, police found no sign of violence on the body but blood was oozing from its nostrils.
"The boy might have drowned when he was swimming in the pond," said another Lolu Selatan resident.
He said the boy was about 6 years old, about 90 centimeters tall with brown skin and thin hair.
