PROSECUTORS MEET FAMILY OF BALI BOMBERS

Lamongan, Indonesia, Nov 7 (ANTARA) - A team from the Lamongan district public prosecutor's office visited the family of Bali bombers Amrozi and Mukhlas in the village of Tenggulun, Solokuro, Lamongan, East Java, at around 9 am on Friday.
Amrozi and Mukhlas as well as another deathrow convict, Imam Samudra, are currently waiting to be executed for their role in the first Bali bombings in October 2002 that left more than 200 people dead, including many Australian tourists.
Ali Fauzi, another of Amrozi's brothers, confirmed to reporters at the Al Islam boarding school that his family had received a letter from the public prosecutor's office but he declined to disclose the letter's content.
"They (prosecutors) just came on a social visit," he said.
The head of the Lamongan district public prosecutor's office, Irnesif, came to the house of Amrozi's elder brother, Mohamad Chozin, in the company of the head of the office's general crime section, Nugroho, Lamongan police chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Achmad Suyuti and the head of the local office of the ministry of religious affairs, Azhari. They came in two cars escorted by local police officers.
Ali Fauzi said besides delivering the letter, the prosecutors had also asked about his family's readiness ahead of the execution of Amrozi and Mukhlas.
He said his family was proud of Amrozi and Mukhlas because they were already able to set the route of their burial's procession even before they died.
According to plans, upon arrival at Tenggulun, Amrozi's and Mukhlas's bodies would be brought to the house of their mother, Mrs Tariyem, where they would be bathed before being taken to the Muttaqin Baitul mosque nearby where members of their extended family and friends could take part in a prayer service and pay their last respects.
From the Muttaqin Baitul mosque , the bodies would be transferred to the Baiturrahman mosque in the compound of Al Islam boarding school, about 700 meters away.
Fauzi said Amrozi had asked to be buried beside his father, Nurhasyim, who died in 2005 and was laid to rest in a cemetery located around 500 meters from the mosque.
The chief of the Pekalongan chapter of the Islam Defenders' Front (FPI), Said Sungkar, who flanked Ali Fauzi during the meeting with the public prosecutors, called on all of his fellows in Pekalongan, Solo and other regions to perform prayers and sacrifice three sheep for Amrozi and Mukhlas because they had died as "martyrs."
