A day earlier, on Thursday, Amrozi's family at Tenggulun village in Lamongan district, East Java, sent a letter to President Yudhoyono in connection with the imminent execution of Bali-I bombing convicts Amrozi, Ali Gufron and Imam Samudra.
Amrozi's brother, Ali Fauzi, explained that his family had sent the letter to President Yudhoyhono because they were confused about happenings in relation with Amrozi et al's fate.
Ali Fauzi said that on Wednesday he received a telephone call from Muslim Defenders' Team spokesman Mahendara Data, saying that an Attorney Genral's Office (AGO) official would deliver a letter to Amrozi's family in Tenggulun.
But until midnight, no AGO official had visited them.
Muhammad Chozin, Amrozi's other brother, said up till Friday morning the family had not received any letter from any AGO official but expressed hope that Amrozi et al would not be executed.
Therefore, Ali Fauzi said, the family decided to send the letter to President Yudhoyono.
But he refused to explain the content of the three-page letter to the president.
