JAPANESE UNIVERSITY COOPERATES WITH INDONESIAN VARSITIES
Surabaya, Indonesia, Nov 7 (ANTARA) - The Japanese Kumamoto University (KU) established cooperation with five state-owned higher institutions grouped in the consortium of the Surabaya-based Institute of Technology (ITS), KU president Prof. Dr. Tatsuri said.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) of the cooperation which involves five universities in the Indonesian eastern region was signed during "The 6th Kumamoto University Forum" in a hotel here on Thursday.
The five Indonesian higher institutions are ITS, Mataram University (Unram), Nusa Cendana University (Undana), Sam Ratulangi University (Unsrat) and Cendrawasih University (Uncen).
Tatsuri said the cooperation was aimed at developing science and education in various fields, including cooperation in research, exchange of students as well as exchange of professors.
He said that the cooperation constituted a follow up of the "Project for Research and Education" previously carried out with KU in 2005.
