Foreign Minister participates in WEF in Japan

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Minister of Foreign Affairs L.Bold started last Sunday a working visit to Japan, and took part in the Japan Meeting 2013-World Economic Forum kicked off Tuesday in Tokyo. Within the visit, the FM was received by Mr Shinzo Abe, the Prime Minister of Japan. He conveyed to Mr Abe a greeting from the Mongolian President and emphasized that Mr Abe’s visit to Mongolia in March significantly contributed to strengthening of the bilateral strategic partnership relations. In response, the Japanese Premier conveyed his greetings to the Mongolian President and to Prime Minister, and said he supported the “Abe-Ebi” Initiative by Ts.Elbegdorj on launching the Ulaanbaatar Talks which aims to fortify the peace and security in Northeast Asia. Mr Abe underlined an importance of the Mongolian Premier’s visit to be paid to Japan this year, and expressed a willingness to do all the best to make this upcoming visit most successful and fruitful. Then Mr Bold held a meeting with his counterpart Mr Fumio Kishida. They expressed satisfaction with quick implementation of works which were agreed within the Japanese PM's visit. Then, the sides confirmed to create a middle-term programme on deepening the bilateral strategic partnership relations, to realize the “Impetus” programme for the mutually-beneficial economic cooperation, to expand the cooperation in the fields of culture, education and humanity and to strengthen the regional peace and stability. The Foreign Minister also met Mr Klaus M. Schwab, founder and president of the WEB; Ms Sadako Ogata, chairwoman of the WEF Japan Meeting; Mr Naoki Inose, the Governor of Tokyo city; Mr Akihiko Tanaka, president of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA); Mr Hiroyuki Ishige, president of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO); and leaders of other financial and banking organizations. He exchanged views with them on a present situation of the Mongolian economy and investment environment, and discussed issues on opportunities to make investments to Mongolia. In addition, Mr Bold shared views with the WEF leaders on organizing the Ulaanbaatar Meeting of WEF which is planned in September of 2013, and agreed to collaborate in this matter. The Foreign Minister Bold participated in the WEF Japan Meeting as a panelist, and his visit will end on Wednesday.
