Ashghal Awards QR 7.2 Billion Contracts For Developing Expressway Projects

Doha, June 11 (QNA) - The Public Works Authority Ashghal today announced new contracts to build 24 new Expressway projects across Doha with a total value of QR 7.2 billion. The ceremony was held at the Sheraton Hotel in the presence of Eng. Nasser Ali Al-Mawlawi, President of Public Works Authority, designated contractors, and senior representatives from Ashghal. Due to be built to the highest specifications, the Expressway Projects awarded contracts included Construction contracts: East West Corridor (Package 1) project valued at QR 1,668,474,800 will be implemented by J&P AVAX S.A JV, East West Corridor (Package 2) project valued at QR 2,230,321,104.27 will be implemented by China Harbour Engineering Design and Construction supervision contracts include East West Corridor , Al Wakrah Bypass, and Al Wakrah Main Road projects, awarded to Halcrow (Consulting Engineers and Architects) Ltd, with a value of QR 477, 237,059.00, Wholesale Market Street, Mesaimeer Road, and E Ring Road project, awarded to Parsons Brinckerhoff International Incorporation with a value of QR 320, 225,510.00, and Furosiya Street project, and Al Sadd/ Rashida / Mohammed Bin Ahmed / Al Khufoos Street project, awarded to CDM Smith Inc. with a value of QR 285, 979, 162.00. Group 5 Al Khor Bypass (Ras Laffan Road and Route 77), Doha Al Khor link road and Al Khor Umm Birkah link road, Lusail (Phase 1) and Lusail (Phase 2), awarded to Hyder Consulting Middle East Ltd. With a value of QR 414, 691, 698. Group 6 Al Zubara Road, Mekeines to UmmBab Link Road, Al Shihaniyah to Al Jemailiya Link Road and Jemailiya to bu Sidra and Al Busayyir Link Roads. Awarded to Egis International with a value of QR 432,589, 109.00. Group 7 The Orbital Highway and Truck Route project awarded to AECOM Middle East Ltd with a value of QR 540,419, 070.00 . Group 8(A) Al Rayyan Road and Bu Irein and Al Bustan Street (North). Awarded to Egis International with a value of QR 347, 765, 526.00. Group 9 Major Roads between Al Asiri and Al Matar areas, Salwa Road Phase 3, and Major roads in the centre of Doha. Awarded to Parsons International with a value of QR 480, 704, 723.00. As part of the ceremony a detailed presentation on Ashghals Expressway Programme was delivered highlighting the upcoming Expressway developments under the Authoritys mandate. With ten projects under construction, the seven year programme will deliver more than 30 major road projects across Qatar including new and upgraded freeways, expressways and arterial roads, a new orbital highway and truck route as well as substantial upgrades to existing roads. The Programme will deliver over 900kms of new roads and an array of underpasses, flyovers and multi-level interchanges to enable free-flowing traffic and improved journey times. (END)
