INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “VARIOUS FORMS OF ISLAMOPHOBIA AND XENOPHOBIA” UNDERWAY IN BAKU
Baku, 6 November,(AzerTAj)International Conference on the subject “Various forms of islamophobia and xenophobia: influence on youth and the activity of the youth in preventing it” is underway in Baku under the slogan “Away from religious discrimination”.
About 124 delegates from 43 countries participate in the event organized by
Azerbaijan`s Ministry of Youth and Sports, Council of Europe, ISESCO, the Islamic
Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation and the European Youth Forum.
“World community recognized the fact that Azerbaijan shows best example for
religious tolerance and stability both in the region and the whole world, Chairman
of the State Committee on Work with Religious Structures Idayar Orujev told
journalists in his interview. All confessions were represented in Azerbaijan. The
citizens of the country, irrespective of their national belonging, have a right to
religious freedom and freedom of conscience, said Mr. Orujev.
During the second day of the conference, the working groups examined such issues as
“Islamophobia and media”, “Islamophobia in today`s Europe”, “Religion, culture and
cooperation”, “Religion and human rights”, “Youth and extremism” and others.
