Shipment of 5,000 Sheep Heads to Doha ahead of Ramadan

Doha, June 10 (QNA) - Preparations for the Holy Month of Ramadan next month have started here with a consignment of 5,000 sheep livestock heading to Qatar from Australia, a senior official said here. Hassad Food Company (HFC) Chairman Nasser Al Hajri said, "A shipment of 5,000 sheep left Australia this week and will reach Qatar before Ramadan." "After the arrival of this lot another 5,000 sheep will move out from our subsidiary farm in Australia. A total of around 13,000 sheep livestock will come from Australia," he said. The sheep are cross between the Awassi breed and the native Australia breed, he said and added, "two days ago we received in Qatar our first shipment from Australia of two containers comprising 900 carcasses".
