RI ATTENDS 15th APEC FINANCE MINISTERS MEETING IN PERU

Jakarta, Nov 6 (ANTARA) - An Indonesian delegation attended the 15th APEC Finance Ministers Meeting (APEC FMM) on November 5-6, 2008 in Trujilo, Peru, according to finance ministry sources here Thursday.
Sources at the finance ministry's Center for International Cooperation and Fiscal Policies said the delegation comprised officials from the center and the Indonesian embassy in Peru and was led by the ministry's secretary general, Mulia P. Nasution, representing Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.
The meeting was preceded by a drafting session on November 2 and an APEC-Finance and Central Bank Deputies (APEC-FCBD) meeting on November 3-4.
The main points on the meeting's agenda were global economic issues, capital market reform, improving the quality of public expenditure (including result based budgeting and managing fiscal risks) and related issues such as increasing APEC cooperation and capacity building.
Indonesia acting as one of the lead discussants presented its experiences in implementing a budgeting system based on work performance at a session on Improving the Quality of Public Expenditure (including result based budgeting and managing fiscal risks).
The Indonesian delegation also shared policies with other APEC members in dealing with financial global crisis, forming bilateral cooperation with other APEC members, discussing with internal investment banking concerning its role in handling the crisis, giving assistance to the needy countries and providing payment alternatives.
