VESNA CRNIVEC: KHOJALY TRAGEDY SHOULD NEVER RECUR
Baku, 5 November,(AzerTAj)A seminar on photography and social change was conducted by visiting Slovenian photographer, Prof. Vesna Crnivec at the Youth and Media Education Center in Baku on November 4.
When Ms. Crnivec first came to Azerbaijan in 2002, she visited refugee camps and
later brought her painful impressions on the hardship of a lot of innocent people to
the world community through her photos.
This is Ms. Crnivec’s fourth visit to the country following those in 2006 and 2007.
Every time she showed great interest in how life of refugees and internally
displaced persons changed with time, learned new details of the Khojaly tragedy, and
then arranged exhibitions of the photos taken here in different corners of the
world.
The goal of the current visit is to form a team capable of uniting young people and
support them in their activities to provide assistance to refugees and IDPs and keep
the world informed about them through photography.
According to Ms. Crnivec, the Association of Young Friends of Azerbaijan has been
functioning in Slovenia with the goal to unite the world in fighting violence so
that massacres like that in Khojaly never recur.
