RI'S ECONOMIC GROWTH IN 2008 ESTIMATED AT 6.2 PERCENT
Jakarta, Nov 6 (ANTARA) - Bank Indonesia (BI/the central bank) Deputy Governor Hartadi A Sarwono said Indonesia's economic growth in 2008 was estimated at 6.1-6.2 percent.
"We estimate that the overall economic growth this year is still able to reach 6.1-6.2 percent," the BI deputy governor said here on Wednesday.
He said that the country's economic activities in the third quarter of 2008 were still high that the economic growth reached 6.4 percent but in the fourth quarter it was estimated to drop.
The impact of the declining economic growth in the remaining two months of this year would be clearly felt, he said.
"We predict that the global financial crisis will affect Indonesia's economic activities so that the economic growth in the fourth quarter of 2008 will reach only 5.9 percent," he said.
