Qatar's Prime Minister Participates in Ministerial Meeting on Syria

Amman, May 22 (QNA) - Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani participated in the Ministerial Meeting of the Friends of Syrian People Group, which was held in Amman Wednesday Evening. The was held to complete the previous meetings aimed at coordinating positions in the light of current events on the ground and the need to finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria. It discussed the Russian-American proposal to revive the political process for resolving the crisis through the convening of an international conference (Geneva - 2) in June based on the statement of the Geneva Conference last year. The Meeting as well, discussed ways to support and strengthen the Syrian opposition. The Friends of Syrian People Group includes 11 countries, these are the State of Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Jordan, Turkey, US, France, Italy, UK and Germany. HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani said at the meeting, that it is a historical responsibility and that the Syrian People deserves clear, strong stand to liberate them from Killing and injustice. Syria is destroyed for one reason and that is the survival of the regime, he said adding that the Syrian people would not accept to be led in this way. They made many sacrifices and entire families have been wiped. (QNA)
