Torch Doha and HMC Hold Blood Donation Campaign

Doha, May 16 (QNA) - The Torch Doha Hotel and Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) Thursday organised a blood donation campaign here as part of its corporate social responsibility programme. A total of 60 staff donated approximately 450 ml of blood per person, approximately 30 liters of blood, a hotel executive said. "Torch Doha Hotel Manager Sherif Sabry said, "We are glad to see so many of our staff members volunteer for a great cause. Our efforts are not limited to this occasion as we encourage everyone to show concern for regular donations to save lives." The blood donation event at The Torch coincides with National Volunteer Week around the world. The blood donation initiative is organized every year by the Human Resources Department at The Torch Doha. The hotel's Director of Training and Personnel Ashraf Shokair said, "We want to be actively outward-looking when it comes to blood donation. Not too long ago we witnessed a special situation in the hotel when one of our associates was in urgent need of blood due to a surgical procedure. One of his colleagues who had a compatible blood type donated voluntarily. It was a magnificent gesture and showed our ongoing commitment to support each other and give back to the community." (QNA)
