WB to assist in reconstructing infrastructure projects in Mahrah
MAHRAH, Nov. 04 (Saba) - The World Bank (WB) affirmed on Tuesday that it will assist in the development process and construct the infrastructure projects the governorate
needs, such as roads, schools and save water projects.
Governor of Mahrah Governorate Ali Mohammed Khawdam reviewed here with WB
representative in Yemen Naji Abu Hatim damages caused by the rainstorm struck the
governorate lately.
The meeting discussed the WB-funded infrastructure projects in the governorate and
the damaged projects including projects of roads, waters, electricity and fishery.
The meeting, attended by Deputy Minister of Electricity Ahmed al-Ayni, highlighted
the impacts of cutting of the electricity on the governorate's capital and
districts.
The governor Khawdam asserted the importance of setting up a strategy for
electricity and changing the internal network of governorate's capital Ghaidhah in
addition to conducting field studies to pinpoint the proper locations for
constructing dams.
The WB's official said that his visit to the governorate aims to assess the damages
in cooperation with the local authority and the offices of the concerned ministries
and then to report that to the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation,
which will show it to the donor countries, international and regional organizations
to contribute in the relief operation.
