Cote d'Ivoire's President Visits Museum of Islamic Art

Doha, May 12 (QNA) - Cote d'Ivoire's President Hassan Dramane Ouattara and his accompanying delegation paid on Sunday a visit to the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) as part of his official visit to Qatar. President Ouattara toured the Museum which houses masterpieces of Islamic art, including metalwork, ceramics, jewellery, woodwork, textiles, coins and glass. He also visited the 'Ferozkoh: Tradition and Continuity in Afghan Art' expo which showcases works created by Afghan artists being held at MIA. Talking to Qatar News Agency after touring the Museum, Ouattara expressed his delight at the objects on display as well as the beautiful Islamic architecture of the building, adding that the collection reflects the vitality, the complexity, and the diversity of the arts of the Islamic world. Doha hosting of this cultural edifice and others shows the attention paid by the State of Qatar to Islamic art and civilization, he said. During the visit, Rashid Al-Hajri, Director of Protocol and International Relations, Qatar Museums Authority, presented to President Ouattara a book about the museum's design and most of its contents.
