AGO APPOINTS TEAM TO HANDLE BALI BOMBERS' EXECUTION

Jakarta, Nov 4 (ANTARA) - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has appointed a team of public prosecutors to handle the execution of Bali bombers Amrozi, Mukhlas and Imam Samudra, a spokesman said.
"The public prosecutors come from the Central Java and Bali provincial public prosecutor's offices," AGO spokesman Jasman Pandjaitan said here on Tuesday.
He said the team would only be responsible for the judicial aspect of the execution while the execution itself would be carried out by the police.
The AGO announced recently the execution of the deathrow convicts would be carried out early this month but no exact date has been set yet.
Amrozi et al were found guilty of planning and carrying out bombings in Bali in October in 2002 that left more than 200 people dead including many tourists from Australia.
Regarding their families' attempt to file a request for a judicial review again, Pandjaitan said that a request for a judicial review could only be made once by the convicts or their next of kin.
"A judicial review can only be done once in line with Article 268 of the Criminal Code and Article 69 of the Supreme Court Act," he said.
In connection with the difficulties of the convicts' family members in seeking access to Nusakambangan where the convicts had so far been held, Pandjaitan said that it was the affairs of the Central Java and Bali provincial prosecutor's offices as well as the Central Java police and the regional office of the justice ministry.
