RI TO WELCOME WHOEVER WINS US PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

Jakarta, Nov 4 (ANTARA) - Indonesia will welcome whoever wins the US presidential election on November 4, presidential spokesman Dino Pati Djalal said here on Tuesday.
He said whoever would be the US president-elect, Indonesia would continue to maintain and increase its relations with the US.
"I am convinced the two countries have their own national interests that will make them maintain or increase their relations whether it will be McCain or Obama who will be the next US president," he said.
He said the two countries' relations were not based on leaders but national interests. "So, just let us see who will win. The government's position in this regard is certainly that it will not interfere in the domestic affairs of the US government. We respect democracy and the US elections," he said.
The American people will choose between McCain and Obama to be their next president in a vote to be held on Tuesday in the US, the results of which is expected to be known by November 5 in Indonesia.
