Minister of Culture Stresses Qatar's Commitment To Interacting With Other Cultures
Doha , May 05 (QNA) - HE Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr. Hamad bin Abdul Aziz Al Kuwari stressed Sunday that the State of Qatar is keen on cultural exchange with different countries around the world.
Dr. Al Kuwari was speaking after the opening of language center "Welcome Paris" and said that learning languages is the best way to learn about other's cultures.
He stressed on the importance of learning languages of countries with rich cultures, adding that the Ministry of Culture backed all efforts to promote learning foreign languages in Qatar.
HE the Minister noted that learning foreign languages will not have any impact on the Arabic language, while stressing the Arabic language is a strong ones, and there should be no fear of having it interact with other languages.
Dr. Al Kuwari stressed that learning foreign languages has become more important as the world has become smaller.
Responding to a question from Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE the Minister said that the new center was a live example of cultural exchange between the State of Qatar and France, particularly in terms of learning languages. He believed that learning foreign languages was a good opportunity for the society to learn about other cultures. HE the Minister stressed however that the Ministry of Culture was committed to spreading the Qatari culture as well.
For her part, Director of the Center Welcome Paris (Bonjour Paris) Mayte Garcia expressed her thanks to the Minister of Culture for his commitment to backing all efforts that enhances exchange of cultural knowledge between countries. (QNA)
