President inspects floods-damages in Hudeidah
HUDEIDAH, Nov. 03 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh arrived here on Monday for
inspecting conditions of people and effects of heavy rains in the governorate.
He met with members of parliament, local council and the executive office,
scholars, dignitaries, civil society organizations and security and military
leaderships and listened to report on size of damages resulted in heavy rains that
have effected 910 houses across the governorate in addition to a number of public
facilities and swept a number of farms and wells.
The president delivered a speech in which he expressed aims of the visit to the
governorate "our visit to the governorate is for inspecting people conditions after
heavy rains Almighty God blessed our country with. The rains caused damages to many
houses and affected infrastructure projects making great damages."
"The damages in Hudeidah are not equal to damages in Hadramout and Mahra
governorates. We are keen to overcome what happened and will work on extending help
hand to floods-affected people in this governorate as we have done in the eastern
area," added Saleh.
We aspire from the people to avoid building houses in floods runways and to commit
to local authority's designs he said, adding that Hadramout's catastrophe needs
months or my be years for reconstructing effects and damages.
He highlighted relief efforts extended by neighboring countries such as Saudi
Arabia, UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Sudan, Lebanon and other countries
"the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has donated US$ 100 million and quantities of food and
supplies are consequently arriving in Hadramout.
