Iran, real friend of Lebanon: Lahoud

Former Lebanese president Emile Lahoud said on Monday evening that the Islamic Republic of Iran is a real friend of his country.

He made the remarks while talking to reporters at Beirut airport upon arrival from Tehran.

He said the Iranian nation and government have always stood by the Lebanese nation during the most difficult time.

Lahoud made it clear that his visit to Tehran aimed to appreciate Iran's humanitarian assistance to the Lebanese nation and the support for the resistance movement of his people.

He referred to his visit as "constructive" and said he felt at home during his stay in Iran.

Emile Lahoud met and conferred with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili and several other officials in Tehran./end
