FM receives Carl Gershman

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Foreign Minister, L.Bold received Mr Carl Gershman, a president of National Endowment for Democracy on April 27. Mr Gershman said the Mongolian democracy has been developing as a model for the Asia-Pacific region. L.Bold spoke about how Mongolia has worked on creating the democratic society that prioritizes human rights and freedom, on forming the democratic parliament and independent court in the last 23 years. In response, C.Gershman underlined that Mongolia has been striving to strengthen the democracy and to contribute to the deeds of ensuring human rights and freedom, and that, leading the CoD, it has reached a level from which it can share its experience and lessons with others. He went on that the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is a private, nonprofit foundation dedicated to the growth and strengthening of democratic institutions in the countries of the Central Asia. He is grateful to Mongolia for giving a chance to meet with many delegations here, he said. The NED has been implementing activities to create a network for developing a democracy in the Asia-Pacific, Mr Gershman said and expressed a confidence that Mongolia will cooperate in it.
