RI WANTS 75 LNG EXPORTS TO JAPAN TO BE TRANSPORTED BY NATIONAL SHIPPING
Jakarta, Nov 4 (ANTARA) - The government has asked that about 75 percent of liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports from Bontang refinery plants in East Kalimantan, to be transported by National shipping firms.
Head of the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulating Body (BP Migas) R Priyono said here that Japan had previously asked the transportation of 50 percent of the export be carried out by Japanese ships.
"But we ask for a 75 percent portion and we hope they will agree to it," he said.
He said that the cost for the transportation to Japan of LNG reached US$30,000 per day.
Priyono said that the LNG that would be transported to Japan accounted for about 25 million tons.
The 25 million tons of LNG purchase that would be exported to Japan was contained in a 10-year contract between the Indonesian government and its Japanese counterpart.
The transportation to Japan will involve some 130 tankers for each two weeks, of which 20 ships from Japan while the remaining ones from Indonesia. ***2***
