BEIJING OFFICE OF GARUDA TO TAKE ANTICIPATORY STEPS IN FACE OF CRISIS

Beijing, Nov 4 (ANTARA) - The National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia for Beijing branch said it was seeking for breakthroughs in order to anticipate a passenger decline due to world financial crisis so that its target to fly 22,000 passengers this year would be achieved.

"We keep on observing the downward trend in the number of passengers as a result of the global financial crisis," Garuda Branch Manager for Beijing Pikri Ilham K said here on Monday.

He said that the booking of tickets in the run up to the year end usually reached 70 percent two months before but now the number of passenger who had booked flight tickets was still recorded at 60 percent.

Ilham said that many would-be passengers were still in the position of "wait and see" about the developments of the global financial crisis.

He said that Garuda Indonesia was not the only airlines which were taking anticipatory steps in the face of the crisis in Beijing. "Other airlines are also facing the same conditions," he added.***2***
