Qatar and Jordan Sign Agreement to Combat Custom Offenses

Doha, April 22 (QNA) - Qatar Customs Authority and Jordanian Customs Department have signed a bilateral agreement on mutual administrative assistance for the optimal application of the customs law and the prevention, investigation and combat of customs offenses between the two countries. The agreement was signed by Director General of Qatar Customs Authority HE Ahmed bin Ali Al Mohannadi and Director General of the Jordanian Customs Department Major General Ghalib Al Qassim Al Sarayreh. The agreement aims to combat customs offenses that harm the economic, trade, financial, social and cultural interests of the two countries, to affirm the importance of the proper assessment and collection of customs duties and other taxes on imports or exports and to ensure the proper application of the prevention, restriction and control procedures. HE Ahmed bin Ali Al Mohannadi said in a statement issued by the Customs today that the signing of the agreement comes from the awareness by both sides of the need for international cooperation in matters relating to the application and implementation of customs regulations and out of conviction that work against customs offenses can be more effective through close cooperation between the two countries.(QNA)
