10th Doha Interfaith Dialogue Conference to Start Tuesday
Doha, April 21 (QNA) - HE the Minister of Justice Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim will open on Tuesday at Doha Ritz Carlton Hotel, the 10th Doha Interfaith Dialogue Conference under the title Best Practice in Interfaith Dialogue.
The Chairman of Doha International Centre for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) Dr. Ibrahim Salih Al-Nuaimi said that the three-day conference will be discussing four major topics in academic and Justice fields as well as Conflict Resolution and Peace and the Media Culture.
He said in a press conference today that this conference is a continuation of the series that started in 2003, hailing the keenness of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani on developing a common understanding for dialogue between followers of divine religions.
Giving details on the four topics of the conference, Dr. Al-Nuaimi said that the Academic topic will focus on research and academic excellence in the teaching and study of interfaith relations and in the dissemination of academic research in addition to development of school and university curricula to encourage interfaith understanding.
The Justice topic, he added, will discuss economic, social and environmental aspects, noting that the DICID actively participated in the UN Climate Change Conference hosted by Qatar in December to confirm the vital role of religions in the preservation of the environment and the planet.
The Chairman of Doha International Centre for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) Dr. Ibrahim Salih Al-Nuaimi stressed the importance of the Conflict Resolution and Peace topic, saying that it aims at clarify the role of the religious scholars in addressing these issues and preventing them.
With regard to the fourth topic, he stressed the vital role of the media in the interfaith dialogue through publications and various communication tools in addition to cultural and creative activities.
The Conference will start, for the first time, presenting the (Doha International Award for Interfaith Dialogue) which will be awarded to an institution or individual that has effective contribution distinguished project in the field of interfaith dialogue.
He considered the award to be one of the leading initiatives in this area, adding that DICID is looking forward to contributing to supporting the culture of peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and acceptance of others.
Dr. Al-Nuaimi said that some 500 participants from 75 world countries , mainly divine religions followers, researchers in the field comparative religion, institutions and bodies and universities working and concerned with the field of interfaith dialogue, will participate in the conference to present their successful experiences and achievements in this area.
