President orders to give subsidies to collapsed houses owners in rainstorm-hit areas
SANA'A, Nov. 02 (Saba) - President Ali Abdullah Saleh ordered on Sunday to give
urgent subsidies to the people whose houses have collapsed due to the
rainstorm-struck eastern governorates of Hadramout and Mahrah.
In a ministerial meeting chaired by the president and attended by Prime Minister Ali
Mujawar and several ministers, the meeting approved doubling efforts of relief and
taking precautious procedures of the disaster consequences at the environmental and
health fields.
The meeting also agreed on making the preparations for reconstructing the damaged
areas and repairing the smashed infrastructure projects in these governorates,
especially projects of roads, electricity, waters and telecommunications.
On the other hand, the meeting addressed the impacts of the global financial crisis,
decline of the oil prices and the reduction of the oil production in the country in
addition to the damages of the oil pumps in the rainstorm-affected areas.
The meeting accentuated the necessity of rationalizing the public expenditure and
activating the machineries to increase the country's resources. It also dealt with
changes in the world markets on some of the basic foodstuffs, topped by the wheat.
Furthermore, the meeting approved distributing the UAE Wheat gift to Yemen to be
arrived here in December 2008 to those registered in the social security network.
