KPK GRILLS AULIA POHAN IN BI GRAFT CASE
Jakarta, Nov. 3 (ANTARA) - Former Bank Indonesia (BI) deputy governor Aulia Tantowi Pohan was on Monday grilled by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
The KPK had named Pohan a suspect in the illegal transfer of Rp100 billion in BI funds to various parties outside BI along with three other former senior BI officials, namely Maman H. SOemantri, Bunbunan Hutapea, and Aslim Tadjuddin.
Pohan arrived at the KPK building at around 9.50 am local time, accompanied by several people, including Maman H Soemantri.
Bunbunan Hutapea and Aslim Tadjuddin arrived at the KPK office moments later.
The four suspects refused to give any statement to the press and rushed directly into the KPK building.
KPK Chairman Antasari recently said that his office would call a number of people after the naming of four former deputy governors of BI as suspects.
"The KPK stance is taken professionally, not because of others' wish," Antasari said. He said that the investigation on the illegal BI funds transfer case would continue.
Meanwhile, a Democrat Party (PD) executive said the naming of Aulia Pohan, the father in-law of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's son, as a suspect in the illegal BI funds transfer case proves he is not above the law.
"More than that, it is also a sign that law enforcement is improving. There is no discrimination and no one is above the law," PD Associate Chairman Anas Urbaningrum said here Wednesday. The Democrat Party was founded by Yudhoyono.
