Qatar Participates in XVIII Commonwealth Law Conference in South Africa

Cape Town, April 15 (QNA) - The State of Qatar is participating in the 8th Commonwealth Law Conference, currently under way in the South African city of Cape Town under the theme: " justice and the need of the international community for successful litigation." Qatar delegation to the conference is headed by HE Judge Masoud Mohamed Amiri, Head of the Court of Cassation at the invitation of South Africa's Chief Justice Judge Mogoeng Mogoeng. On the sidelines of the Conference, which was attended by the State of Qatar as a guest of honour, HE Al Amiri met with heads of the judiciary in each of New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Scotland, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda and Chad. During the meetings, they exchange views on the topics on the conference's agenda, particularly the mechanisms available for judicial cooperation within the scope of prompt justice, alternative means for the consideration of disputes and common experiences in this field. HE Al Amiri also met with the Dean of the Canadian Judicial Training Institute, which is among the leading consulting firms in the preparation and training of judges. The two sides discussed ways to find cooperation with the Institute in the relevant fields. The Commonwealth Law Conference is one of the most prestigious events on the international legal calendar providing an opportunity for judges, legal academics and practicing lawyers from across the Commonwealth to meet and discuss current and topical issues which affect the legal and broader community today.
