Indian FM calls for further trade cooperation with Iran

Indian Foreign Minster Pranab Mukherjee called Sunday evening for fostering Iran-India trade cooperation.

Addressing the closing ceremony of the 15th Session of Iran-India Joint Commission, Mukherjee said that the two sides reached agreement on cooperation in various fields including tourism, agriculture, information, technology, transportation, energy and finance.

Referring to his meetings with the Iranian senior officials, the Indian foreign minister said that the talks led to finalization of the agreement on legal assistance in extradition of the prisoners.

He also said that the two countries discussed about finalization of the draft of supporting mutual investment and the preferential tariffs.

He added that Iran and India inked several memorandums of understanding some including declaration of Bandar-e Shahid Rajaei and Jawaharlal Nehru port as the sister cities and ushering in cooperation in agriculture and trade.

Mukherjee said that Iran-India joint commission aimed to promote economic and cultural cooperation and accelerating them as well./end
