Zardari hails Saudi-Pakistani relations
Riyadh, Nov 02, SPA -- Pakistani President Asif Zardari has hailed
the existing Saudi-Pakistani relations, and said these close ties are
'unique' in nature.
In a statement published today in the Jeddah-based Okaz newspaper,
he said the views of the leaderships in the two countries are
identical on all bilateral, regional and international issues.
Taking into account the major and strategic role of the Kingdom for
the stability of the situation in the region, Asif Zardari reiterated
Pakistan's keenness on further cementing its relations with Riyadh as
well as enhancing the pillars of the Islamic solidarity.
Zardari, who will arrive in Riyadh on Tuesday, praised the support
being extended by the Kingdom to Pakistan, and said the Pakistanis
will never forget the generous assistance extended by the Kingdom to
the victims of the earthquake in Kashmir region.
Zardari pointed out that his forthcoming visit to the Kingdom aims at
cementing the existing relations in all domains and giving an impetus
to the strategic partnership.
He noted that the visit will focus on further cooperation and
boosting the volume of trade exchange and investments in addition to
exchanging views on the challenges facing the Muslim nation as well
as the terror threats and extremism.
Zardari said the cooperation agreement in the field of fighting
crimes and terrorism is at its final stages and it is expected to be
signed shortly.
Zardari said his meeting with King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz will
provide him with an opportunity to get briefed on the Saudi Monarch's
strategic vision towards the developments in the region and the world
notably the global financial crisis as well as means of realizing
peace and security in the Middle East region and the world.
Zardari said more than one million Pakistanis are residing in the
Kingdom and they are positively contributing to further strengthening
the friendship and fraternity between the two countries.
Moreover, he said the Saudi companies have great investments in
various domains in Pakistan, adding that the volume of trade exchange
between the two countries amounts to $5.7 billion.
