BRITAIN'S PRINCE CHARLES BEGINS FIVE-DAY VISIT TO INDONESIA

Jakarta, Nov 1 (ANTARA) - Prince Charles of Britain arrived here at around 3.30 pm local time for a five-day visit to Indonesia.
Indonesian foreign ministry spokesman Teuku Faizasya said the Prince of Wales and entourage immediately left for the Istiqlal Mosque upon arrival to meet with a number of Indonesian religious figures.
"The prince will be received by several religious leaders such as Hasyim Muzadi, the chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Islamic organization, Din Syamsuddin, the chairman of the Muhammadiyah Islamic organization and Asyumardi Azra (former rector of State Islam University," he said.
Prince Charles also toured the mosque guided by the mosque's grand prayer leader. After being briefed on the history, architecture and other things of the mosque the prince then held a closed-door meeting with the religious leaders.
"The main agenda of his visit to Indonesia is for an interfaith dialogue," Faiza said.
He said Prince Charles on Sunday was scheduled to visit the forestry project of Harapan Hutan in Jambi, Sumatra.
He said the climate change, global warming and forestry were among the issues the prince would discuss during his tour of Asia including Indonesia.
"On Monday Prince Charles is scheduled to meet with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the state palace," he said.
On Monday evening he is scheduled to attend a discussion on religious issues at Hotel Four Season and on Tuesday he would go to Yogyakarta to meet with Sultan Hamengkubuwono X and visit Borobudur Temple as well as an Islamic boarding school in Krapyak.
Prince Charles visited the country in 1989 with his wife then Princess Diana. This time he will not be accompanied by his wife Princess Camilla. He is scheduled to leave Indonesia on Wednesday morning.
