Iranian, Brazilian FMs discuss issues of mutual interest

Tehran, Nov 2, IRNA Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim, who is in Tehran, met with
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki here Saturday.

In the meeting, Mottaki by expounding on Iran's foreign policy
priorities said, "South America region is among priorities of Iran's
foreign policy and Brazil enjoys a special position in this concern."
Referring to a number of Brazilian international stances, Mottaki went
on to say,"In many international issues we have common stances which
can be used as potentials for bilateral consultations." The Brazilian
FM by welcoming expansion of ties with Iran as a priority in Brazilian
foreign policy said, "The meeting between the two FMs is a turning
point in bilateral relations and visits of the two presidents will
enter the ties into a new phase."
He added, "We can turn our relations from merely trade into
cooperation in the fields of science, industry, technology and culture."
Amorim said, "Iran has an ancient civilization which should be
introduced to Brazilian people."
Underlining the necessity of holding joint economic commission, the
Brazilian senior diplomat said, "The commission provides ground for
expansion of relations and meetings between presidents of the two
countries and finalizing agreements between Iran and Brazil.
