Iranian, Chinese provinces sign cooperation agreement

Beijing, Nov 2, IRNA A cooperation agreement was signed between Iran's southern province of
Khuzestan and China's province of Shandong by their governors general
Saturday.

In the signing ceremony, a number of both provinces officials were
present when Jafar Hejazi from Iran and Jiang Daming from China signed
the agreement.

Hejazi, by referring to the commonalities between the two provinces,
such as steel, ore, petrochemicals, agricultural products and
industrial manufacturing underlined necessity of using existing
potentials for strengthening cooperation.

He called for expansion of cooperation in other fields and invited his
Chinese counterpart to pay a visit to Khuzestan province.

The Khuzestan province governor general also called for establishment
of working groups to follow the content of the agreement.

Jiang Daming, for his part, welcomed his Iranian counterpart proposals
and said in a near future a group of experts from the province will
travel to Khuzestan province to consider cooperation fields more deeply.

Khuzestan province governor general, heading a delegation, is visiting
China's province of Shandong upon the official invitation of the
Chinese governor general.

Iran-China commercial exchange volume hit 20 billion dollars in 2007
and it is predicted that it will reach 26 billion dollars at the end
of year 2008.
