Tehran's biggest asphalt-producing plant comes on stream

Tehran, Nov 2, IRNA

The biggest asphalt-producing factory in the capital with a capacity
of 240 tons of asphalt per hour became operational here on Saturday.

According to IRNA, this is the first project with such a capacity in
the country and factories with the capacity of 200 tons per hour came
on stream in Semnan and Damghan in 2007.

Another factory with the same capacity became operational in
Andimeshk, Khuzestan province in 2008.

One of the advantages of Tehran's factory is that it complies with
European environmental standards.

The factory is fully automatic and computerized and has special
facilities for reporting from its various sections.

Commenting on the project, managing director of Tehran Municipality's
Engineering and Development Organization, Masoud Nasr-Azadani said
that the project will meet half of Tehran's daily demand for asphalt.

In Tehran, an average of 12,000 tons of asphalt is used a day, he
said, noting that with the commissioning of the plant, an important
part of the capital's demand will be met.

Tehran Municipality has made efforts to increase the durability of the
product, he said, adding that asphalt used in sidewalks will have a
guaranteed life span of at least five years.
