Qatar Culture Minister Opens Doha Theater Festival

Doha , April 07 (QNA) - HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr. Hamad bin Abdul Aziz Al Kuwari inaugurated Sunday the Doha Theater Festival, at the Doha National Theater. The six-day festival will stage 11 plays throughout, in addition to panel discussions that will be given at the Qatar National Theater and Katara. HE the Minister of Culture told reporters today that 2013 will be theater year, as Doha will host a number of plays and theater festivals such as the Arab theater festival, adding that the Culture Ministry had promised, ever since Doha was selected the capital of culture in 2010, that the city would keep that title every year. HE the Minister also praised the theatrical movement in Qatar; in the past two years Qatar established a number of theaters such as the ones in Katara, Souq Wakif and Al Rayyan theater among others. Before that Qatar National Theater was the only stage in city, said HE the Minister noting that The state plans to build two new theaters. (QNA)
