Qatar Foundation Hosts Ecuador’s Minister of Tourism

Doha, April 07 (QNA) - Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development hosted Freddy Ehlers, the Republic of Ecuador’s Minister of Tourism, earlier today. A welcoming committee received the minister and his delegation at the Qatar Foundation Visitors Center. Minister Ehlers and his delegation listened to a presentation outlining the vision and mission of Qatar Foundation. They were also introduced to the many educational initiatives, community development plans and scientific research programmes undertaken by Qatar Foundation. The delegation was briefed on Qatar Foundations numerous sustainability initiatives and climate action solutions. After the presentation, they were shown an impressive 3D scale model of the current buildings and future construction projects at Qatar Foundation. Striving to foster sustainable social and economic development in Ecuador, Minister Ehlers views education and knowledge as fundamental to fuelling the country’s growth. This is in line with the Foundations own mission to invest in human capital as a means of upholding the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030. "Qatar and Ecuador are trying to discover projects of mutual interest and to form a close partnership. Like Qatar Foundation, we have a plan to build a university city in Ecuador. This is partly why we want to speak with Qatar Foundation representatives about the experience they have had thus far," explained Minister Ehlers. "This new city will be for academics and researchers to gather in one place and we really hope that we can work with Qatar Foundation in this endeavor, as our aims are similar. We will undoubtedly create ideas and foster innovative thinking for a new generation." As the visit drew to a close, the minister signed the visitors book. The delegations trip to Doha aims to enhance bilateral relations between Qatar and Ecuador while promoting close collaboration in the fields of education, science, and research. (QNA)
