AFESD to grant Yemen $3 mln to support relief efforts

SANA'A. Nov. 01 (Saba) - Yemen and Arab Fund for Economic and Social
Development (AFESD) will sign soon the Fund's urgent grant worth $3
million to contribute to supporting relief efforts for victims of
floods in eastern region of Yemen.

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul Karim
al-Arhabi told Saba that AFESD's Chairman Abdulatif al-Hamad is to
visit Sana'a on November 3 - 5 for this purpose.

During al-Hamad's visit, he will sign the final agreements of
finance of the second phase of the project of main intersection in
Sana'a amounting at $30 million and the project of Taiz
International Airport's rehabilitation with a total cost $ 26
million, al-Arhabi said.

"Talks will be held between the two sides over cooperation ties" he
added, noting that AFESD is one of the major supporters to the
developmental projects in Yemen.

It is worth mentioning that AFESD is to provide Yemen with $700
during 2007 - 2010.
