Supreme Judicial Council Takes Part in 6th annual World Autism Awareness Day

Doha, April 03 (QNA) - The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has taken part in celebrations marking the sixth annual World Autism Awareness Day which was observed globally . The event coincides on the second of April of each year and within the awareness campaign carried out by the state for this disease. The SJC buildings were lighting in red from outside in consolidation with the world autim awareness to shed light on that disease. The day was observed with unique fundraising and awareness-raising events. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in his message on the occasion of observing the "World Autism Awareness Day 2013" reads as: "This international attention is essential to address stigma, lack of awareness and inadequate support structures. "Now is the time to work for a more inclusive society, highlight the talents of affected people and ensure opportunities for them to realize their potential", said Ki-moon . It is noted that Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that manifests itself during the first three years of life; it is characterised by difficulties in social interaction and communication as well as repetitive behaviour and hyperactivity. The rate of autism in all regions of the world is high and it has a tremendous impact on children, their families, communities and societies.(QNA)
